Traditionally a cheeseburger is a hamburger with cheese added to it. It is usually placed on top of the patty and may include many variations in the preparation and ingredients. The thin-sliced cheese is added shortly before the hamburger finishes cooking. This is to give time for the cheese to melt.
It goes well if you add lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, mustard, mayonnaise, gherkins or ketchup. The making of cheeseburger dates back from the 11th century when Mongols made flat patties of meat with them on a long trip. These travelers introduced the flat patties to Moscow and spread it through the city, and eventually brought to Germany by German sailors. In the US, it first appeared in New York and they named it “Hamburg Steak” or in short hamburger.

Step 1: Prepare all the needed materials.
You will need: mixing bowl; gas or coal grill; plastic wrap; small side bowl; raw meat; cheese; garlic; oregano; bread crumbs and barbecue sauce. Get a bowl sufficient enough to hold the mixture. Make sure that all you need for the preparation is beside the bowl before touching the meat. If you can, portion them on a small plastic sheet to avoid touching them with dirty fingers and this method can also make your preparation easier. Separate the barbecue sauce in a smaller side dish bowl.
Step 2: Prepare the patty.
Begin by lightly sprinkling bread crumbs over the surface of the meat and mix it thoroughly. This should be followed by oregano and garlic sprinkled over the surface. Mix the seasoning into the meat thoroughly.
Step 3: Use barbecue sauce for added flavor.
Next pour the barbecue sauce little by little over the surface of the meat and mix. Make sure to control the amount of barbecue sauce that you pour. It should only be a thin layer of sauce that the meat is still visible when you look underneath.
Step 4: Now, you can use cheese.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese of your choice on the meat. You can use cheddar cheese or Monterey jack cheese or a combination of both. Mix it thoroughly.
Step 5: Make a perfect patty.
Form burger patties using a patty maker but if you don’t have this tool, you can form your patties manually by using a non stick plastic wrap. Cut it into squares and form patties in between those plastics to avoid touching the mixture. All you have to do is scoop the meat using a spoon then place it in between the plastic wrap and flatten it using a turner. It will create an irregular shape patty but it works!
Step 6: Get your grill ready for your cheese burgers.
If the grill is ready, place your patties on the grill. Heat should be medium-high and cook you patties to your desired degree of doneness at least five minutes each on both sides for medium rare. At this point you can now add more seasonings like basting it with barbecue sauce to retain the moisture. You can add more cheese.
