Step 1: Prepare what you need

Prepare all the needed materials in building your own homemade barbecue grill such as 9 cinder blocks, measuring tape and stainless steel grate.

Step 2: Prepare the area where you will build it.

Look for a nice spot in your garden or backyard that is away from structures and flammable materials. Make sure that the area you selected has a hard and even surface; avoid grassy areas.

Step 3: Arrange your materials and make measurements.

Arrange your cinder blocks at least 1 foot apart from each other to a vertical upright position. These blocks will act as supports for the base of your barbecue grill. To have an even measurement, use the measuring tape in doing this. When you are building this all by yourself, carry and lift one cinder block at a time. This should be an enjoyable activity, so don’t stress your body too much.

Step 4: Create the first half of the base.

Put the 2 cinder blocks across the top horizontally on the first supporting block. To create the first half of the base, place the second half of the supporting block on top.

Step 5: Create the second half of the base.

In the same way as number 4, place the other 2 cinder blocks across the second half of the second supporting block and third supporting block. This is to make the second half of the base. Four cinder blocks should already be in place horizontally on top of the supporting base. This is the base that will hold the heating element.

Step 6: Make the cooking grate base.

Make the base that will hold the cooking grate by placing 2 cinder blocks vertically upright at each end of the base. Get the stainless steel cooking grate and place it across the top of the 2 cinder blocks. Prepare the charcoal or wood to be used as the heating elements for your homemade barbecue grill. It should be placed on top of the base blocks in the middle.

Step 7: Remember some tips.

If the area you decide on is quite far, use a hand truck to move the cinder blocks. This will help you save time in building. And cinder blocks are rough, so it is advisable to wear protection gloves.

Homemade grills can be a great addition to your backyard or garden. With just a little enthusiasm, time and effort you now have a little spot wherein you can have a party or just spend time with family and friends. A barbecue grill with food sizzling over the grate can tone the mood of everybody. Happy grilling!
